Dear Shoals Club Member:
Another wonderful season of events, activities and dining is underway at the Shoals Club. We hope you will make plans to visit the club often during the upcoming spring and summer months to enjoy the ocean views, recreational activities and one-of-a-kind dining experiences. A recent e-mail introduced the new Shoals Club website which can be accessed at www.shoalsclub.com. Please visit the website often to catch up on the latest Shoals Club news and take a look at the club’s menus, hours of operation, schedule of events and activities, and more.
Chef John Turner continues to create a wonderful culinary environment in the Shoals Club dining areas, and the new Spring menu has been very well-received. Your future dining experiences at the Shoals Club should be truly memorable. Remember to present your Shoals Club card at the time of service in order to receive the 15% member discount on all food purchases in the dining room and at the Sandbar Grille. This discount applies to full members only (not temporary members) and does not include alcoholic beverage purchases or special dining events.
Please take note of a recent modification regarding Shoals Club membership. Under a 2001 Agreement between Bald Head Island Limited (the owner of the Shoals Club on Bald Head Island, LLC) and the Bald Head Island Club, in order to become a member of the Shoals Club, you were required to be a member of the Bald Head Island Club. As of the end of January, BHI Limited exercised its right to terminate the joint membership requirement. Consequently, it is no longer a requirement that you must be a BHI Club member in order to obtain a new Shoals Club membership, to continue to enjoy the opportunities and privileges of Shoals Club membership, or to transfer your Shoals Club membership upon the sale of your property. Any other membership eligibility requirements contained in the Membership Plan are unchanged. BHI Limited remains the exclusive marketer of Shoals Club memberships and new BHI Club memberships and believes that both clubs offer outstanding opportunities and value as part of the Island experience. If you have questions, please stop by the Membership Sales Office on Keelson Row or call 910-457-7334 or 800-722-6450. Questions regarding existing BHI Club memberships may be directed to Jennifer Allen, Membership Director at the BHI Club, 910-457-7300.
Shoals Club membership dues will continue to be billed on a twelve-month fiscal year of May 1-April 30. For the second consecutive year, we are happy to announce that there will be no increase in dues for the upcoming membership year. As in previous years, any member choosing to pay annual dues, in advance, on or before April 20, 2010, will receive a discounted dues rate. Please review the important dues information below.
We look forward to a spectacular season at the Shoals Club where you will experience first-class dining and beach club activities in an incomparable oceanfront setting. Jens Fisker, General Manager, and the entire Shoals Club staff is ready to make each of your visits to the Shoals Club a special experience. We hope to see you soon.
Regards,

We have lots of great Shoals Club events planned for members in 2010
Welcome Spring! The entire Shoals Club staff is looking forward to personally welcoming you back from our yearly winter break. There’s a lot to look forward to in 2010.
Executive Chef John Turner and culinary staff are anxious to introduce the new spring menu, which will debut at our season opening on March 12th. We will retain many of our popular events, traditions and holiday celebrations this year, so keep an eye on our regularly updated online calendar to plan your participation in our upcoming events.
The main goal of the Shoals Club team this year is to continue providing the best service. Therefore I am pleased to announce that we increase the numbers of complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas and towel service. Should we at any time be out of these items at their stations, please visit the Administrative Office where we have a limited amount reserved for members only.
Easter is only weeks away and we’re gearing up for a big celebration. Our traditional Easter Brunch is very popular and we recommend making reservations as early as possible. Also this year we will increase our hours of service the week before and after Easter. If you can’t wait for the Easter celebration, please join us for our St. Patrick’s Dinner on Friday, March 19th.
This season we will offer many special events for our full members, such as Member Dinners, Member Socials, Member Tables, Member Wine Tastings, and more. All are very reasonably priced or complimentary. Please keep an eye on our calendar of events. Many functions are planned so they don’t interfere with functions at the BHI Club.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for your great support in 2009, and we are looking forward to serving you in 2010.
Jens Fisker

Chef Turner's famous lobster salad
As the Executive Chef here at the Shoals Club, I see the future as bright and delicious! Last season was very successful thanks to you, our members. As new Chef on the block, I was excited to see the potential for a new level of excellence at the Shoals Club.
With 2009 behind us we will continue to maintain our standard of high-quality cuisine and a consistent dining experience for our members. The culinary team is ready to learn and to reach the next level, and with support and encouragement the team will be inspired to show their talent and the ability to bring fresh ideas from our kitchen to your plate. The entire team is anticipating the opportunity to impress everyone this year!
For our 2010 menu, a few minor changes will include influences from Asian, Creole, French and Low Country cuisine with an emphasis on seafood and fresh local ingredients whenever possible. We hope each guest will find dining at the Shoals Club a unique and satisfying experience. From here the future is bright and delicious!
Executive Chef John Turner
